ATP Testing: What is it and how it helps you.
Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) is the universal energy molecule found in all animal, plant, bacteria, yeast and mold cells. Residues, particularly food or organic residues contain large amounts of ATP. When left on a surface, residues can harbor and grow bacteria, cause cross-contamination, develop biofilm and lead to many other problems. An ATP test is, therefore, considered an indicator test for the possible presence of these pathogens
ATP inspections are based on swabbing a surface with an Ultrasnap testing device. The reading tells you if the surface has been cleaned within company standards.
The quality assurance guideline for ATP meter inspections are:
Clean Rating | ATP Count |
Excellent:– Indicates that the surface is very clean | 11-30 |
Good:- Indicates that the surface is clean | 31-80 |
Fair:– Indicates that the surface should be cleaned and has some risk of contamination from disease-causing bacteria | 81-200 |
Poor:- Indicates that the surface needs cleaning and has a high risk of contamination from disease-causing bacteria | 201-500 |
How will ATP Testing Benefit your Building
ATP Testing for your business will locate contaminated high-touch surface ‘hotspots’ in your business that have been causing your staff to contract infections, flu strains (such as, H1N1); colds, and other viral contaminants that are present on your surfaces. It will also show how effective our cleaning program is and which areas need more attention.
